Sunday happenings in town

A big loss to our down town Sunday evening when a Historic landmark building was destroyed by fire.
I was sitting outside reading last night when I looked to the west and thought I was seeing a big wind gust blowing dust around.Being about 1 1/2 blocks from there I soon saw it was smoke not dust. About that time I also heard the fire department being paged out as well.Being the curious person I am I walked uptown to see smoke pouring from the building.
These pictures were taken early into the blaze and do not show how heavy the smoke became.Soon flames were shooting out of the second floor windows.
I have no idea how many departments ended up helping with the blaze but I know it was nonstop sirens coming into town.
The building was home to a Curves for Women and a wonderful Hallmark store.A clothing store suffered heavy smoke damage but the structure was saved. Also a near buy grocery store was continually watered down to keep from catching fire.
This historic building once was home to a hospital,Hotel and apartments.
Happy to report I have heard of no serious injuries.
It is sad to know a huge space will now be left on our main street in our small town.

Sunday Thoughts.

A baby Story

A few days ago I was getting one of my favorite residents dressed ( I have several favorites).As I was washing her up and dressing her she started taking to me.It can often be interesting what will come out of her mouth.In the past she refereed to one lady as on old bitch,(sorry to say she hit the nail on the head on that one as the lady can be very very nasty at times).She has told me she has a big butt when she tried to sit down and sat on the arm of a chair.Any man knows when a women makes a comment like that you KEEP QUIET and I did.
On this particular day she was talking about children.She was talking about her kids and then it came...... she informed me that she decided she will not have any more kids!!!! I smiled and said why not?? She said well, I am 52 I think I am getting to old to have any more kids.I looked at her and said 52???? I would never have guessed!!!!! (lets say maybe 82). Just proved that a women will NEVER tell her true age.

My dear friend Miss Steffie is celebrating a bithday on Monday the 16th.I've been doing some very intense reaserch on Steff and I think there are a few things you should know.From the information I have gathered she seldom has had her picture taken without any makeup on, so this is how many of us have seen her.However after some intence work on my part and some helpers there have been a few pictures found of our frind without her makeup on.You know how they say makeup can cover a lot?I am about to prove to you it is true.Blogging friends for the first time a picture of our friend Steff without her makeup.

Answered prayers!!!!

Like always my family has again been blessed with answered prayers.My parents got a call today that their house is sold for sure with a closing date in two weeks.
Again we have been taught that in HIS TIME!!! We often get discouraged when our prayers are not answered right away or how we want them to be answered, but God does listen and take care of us.We just need to have faith that things will work out.But like others we get discouraged that our prayers are not being answered.Mom and dad did not want to move twice,wanted to move when the condo was done.God heard those prayers and answered them and then sold the house.
It just again assures me that our God is a great and mighty man who will take care of us, if only we put our total trust in him.
Thanks to all who said prayers.Mr.Brian's family is all doing a happy dance today!!!!

All Done.

The big day has finally arrived and is finished.My parents moved to their new condo today.The past few weeks consisted of packing boxes and moving them to the new place.Today the movers came and moved all the big stuff.
My sister and her husband from Sioux City came and helped get the folks settled some.The beds are made, the kitchen is mostly unpacked and it was looking like home when I left.
Everyone is tired but I think they are happy to be moved.
Now when the old place sells they can relax even more.
I will enjoy having my days off free again.But I am so happy i could help with everything.
Have you ever heard if you have not used it in the past few years get rid of it.My dad has not, yes he is a major pack rat.Some day I will have the dumpster in the driveway filling it with all the (as he calls them treasures),junk!!!But until then it is a good thing they have a big basement.LOLOL

Dirty windows

Here is one I think should tickle your funny bone.I know I had a hard time to keep from laughing.
Saturday I walked into the room of one of our more as I call them pleasantly confused residents.She is as sweet and kind as can be but also just very pleasantly demented.As I walked into her room to tell her I was ready to give her a shower she informed me that her windows in her room were VERY VERY dirty! She continued by saying why you can not see out of them. Fighting back laughter I said well maybe this will help and I raised the shades.Without missing a beat she said why yeas they are real clean now!!!!Fastest and easiest window washing ever.
Now for part two.I was giving her the shower and washing her up good, I had washed her back, had her wash her face etc. and I was washing under her arms when she announced proudly......I don't get no hair under my arms anymore.
I just smiled and said well that is interesting.
You never know what to expect when you work in the nursing home but one thing is for sure.......... THERE IS NEVER, AND I DO MEAN NEVER A DULL MOMENT!!!!!!
Just knowing what to say and trying to keep from laughing is the hard part,and sometimes (OK often I fail at that part).

I can honestly say I am more content now then I have been in a long time.My hope is that you are too.
